There would appear to be a growing issue in the UK of mis-applied, mis-installed, and badly commissioned ventilation heat recovery heat pumps.These are NOT ground source heat pumps.......The products themselves are generally from reputable manufacturers, the problem lies in their sizing, application, commissioning and operation. In general, ventilation air heat recovery heat pumps are not capable of providing heating and hot water for a property - by themselves. see link to money experts forum here....

The Telegraph reports that Ministers are working to limit heat pump subsidies over cost fears. The article claims that "energy ministers are planning to rein in subsidies for heat pumps in thousands of households and businesses, amid concerns about the future costs of the £860 million green scheme."
